Florida Atlantic University has chosen Temple University CPH Department of Kinesiology Chair John Jeka, PhD as the 2014 Distinguished Alumni from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. Presented yearly since 2004, the award recognizes distinguished alumni from each of FAU’s colleges to honor their outstanding accomplishments in their field.

Dr. Jeka’s “professional accomplishments since graduating from FAU with a Ph.D. from the Center for Complex Systems & Brain Sciences have brought much pride to our College,” said Allison Jewell, Director of Development & Outreach for the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science.

At Temple University, Dr. Jeka has continued his innovative research in various fields of study concerning the human brain and motor skills. Jeka was also recently awarded a $543,000 grant from the Shriners Foundation to study multisensory fusion for balance control in children with Cerebral Palsy.

The Alumni Awards Ceremony is set for April 29 at the Marleen and Harold Forkas Alumni Center on the Boca Raton campus of FAU.
